As a church community OBC intentionally endeavors to do what God has called us to do. We are continually reminded of this even in the name of our local assembly:
Omaha underscores God's providential plan to affect His saving work tangibly in and through the lives of people in a community. Omaha serves as a continual reminder that we are a body of believers who have been graciously called, saved, and commissioned to proclaim the glory of Christ to a community of people from the city of Omaha to the countries abroad.
Bible is central, standing at the very center of our name. The Bible necessitates the gracious work of the sovereign God revealing the otherwise unknown, purpose and meaning for life. God's Word explains that the purpose of God's creature is conformity to the image of Christ (Rom. 8.29). Therefore God's Word alone can diagnose the true extent of the human problem (Heb. 4.12) and affect the power of God unto salvation (Rom. 1.16). Consequently, OBC endeavors to build every ministry upon the foundation of the Bible's sufficiency for all of life and godliness (2 Peter 1.3).
Church is vital to understanding the heartbeat of OBC. "Church" was chosen by God in His Word to demarcate the people of God called out from the world to be identified with Jesus Christ. God's purpose for His church is paramount. He has purchased the church with Christ's blood thus procuring full ownership (Eph. 5.25); He sanctifies His church with His Word thus mandating its ministry (5.26); finally, He purposes to present His church to Himself holy and blameless thus securing its future (5.27).
Our prayer and desire is to follow His leadership, fulfill His ministry, and pursue His purpose.
Come and join us this Sunday as we aim to join God in boasting in His Son and our Savior!
