Volunteers Working With Children and Youth Policy
Omaha Bible Church (OBC) is committed to providing a safe and secure environment for all children, youth and volunteers who participate in ministries and activities sponsored by Omaha Bible Church. The following policy statements reflect our church’s commitment to preserving this ministry as a safe environment for worship.
Policy Statements:
1. All adult volunteers working with children or youth of Omaha Bible Church must have been regular attendees of Omaha Bible Church for at least six months before beginning a volunteer assignment working with children or youth. Children are defined as individuals being under the age of 12 and in infant nursery, toddler nursery or grade 5 and below. Youth are defined as individuals being under the age of nineteen and in grade 6 through 12.
2. All adult volunteers working with children or youth of Omaha Bible Church must complete a questionnaire and provide OBC with a photo ID to be copied and kept on file.
3. Adult volunteers working with children and youth shall observe the “Two-Adult Rule” at all times which requires that there are always two adults present with children or youth in any Omaha Bible Church sponsored activity. A violation of this rule could result in the volunteer being dismissed from working with children or youth at Omaha Bible Church.
4. Adult volunteers shall immediately report to their ministry leader and/or elder/pastor any behavior that seems abusive or inappropriate.
5. Omaha Bible Church will check the names of volunteer applicants against the state child abuse reporting agency and the state patrol’s sex offender registry.
6. No adult who has ever been convicted of a crime involving sexual misconduct or child abuse should volunteer nor be allowed to work with children or youth in any Omaha Bible Church sponsored activity.
