| ABS offers 5 classes aimed at moving each student through 5 levels of
ministry preparation. These classes are ideal for new members of OBC
who desire to guide the ministry of service with the ministry of God’s
Word. Each class also offers a great opportunity for members of OBC to
review, renew, and rekindle their hearts for continued faithful service
in the home, the church, and the community. |
| Getting Started/FOF (Level 1) ‘Getting Started’ is the place to connect with the overall philosophy of ministry at Omaha Bible Church. Personal interaction with an OBC leader is offered to help each person get a glimpse of the ‘building plans’ for life and ministry, identify ministry opportunities, and follow the church history. Fundamentals of the Faith (FOF) is an interactive class complete with lesson plans, homework, and leader-led discussion intent on anchoring each student in the essentials of the Godhead, the Bible, and the plan of salvation. The Glories of Salvation (Level 2) Understanding justification, sanctification, and glorification is truly the meaning of our life. Biblical salvation is not meant to be understood for the purpose of idle head knowledge. Salvation by its very definition is God’s action to save. In justification, we are saved from the penalty of sin; in sanctification, saved from the power of sin, and in glorification, saved from the presence of sin. The glorious truths of our salvation radically transform our life and ministry. Everyday Evangelism (Level 3) As the truths of salvation transform our lives by conforming us to the image of Christ, the glories of Christ resonate from our hearts through proclamation. Everyday Evangelism aims to encourage each believer to embrace the calling and purpose of the redeemed by proclaiming the excellencies of Jesus Christ in everyday living whether among one’s family, neighbors, co-workers, or acquaintances. Living Discipleship (Level 4) The commission of every believer is to “make disciples,” fulfilling this mission through the faithful instruction of every disciple in the commandments of Christ (Matthew 28:19-20). “Living Discipleship” traces the theme of discipleship throughout the Old and New Testament to its apex in the Great Commission. In the effort of developing the theology and practical outworking of discipleship, this class pays special attention to the life and teaching of Christ as they provide glorious portraits of what it means to follow Christ. Furthermore, the epistles develop the wealth of Christ’s teaching as His Word is to be taught and applied in the life-long course of discipleship living. Bible Storyline (Level 5) This class traces the overarching theme of God’s revelation to humanity through His Word. Beginning in Genesis the glory of God is observed as it is manifested in the promise of the Seed who will crush the serpent’s head (Genesis 3:15). ‘Bible Storyline’ examines this promise of Christ through the unfolding time-line of human history. The purpose of this class is to grasp a holistic, comprehensive understanding of the testimony of Scripture regarding God’s sovereign grace in the outworking of His salvation plan in Jesus Christ. Truth for Life The ‘Truth for Life’ class offers a series of classes for the continued building of the saints for the work of ministry. For example, ‘Truth for Life’ has offered classes that pertain to “Stewardship in the Home,” “Wisdom in Proverbs,” “The Master’s Plan for the Church,” “The Glory of God,” “Giants of the Faith,” “Disciplines of Godliness,” “Glorifying God in the Loss of a Loved One,” and so on. “Truth for Life” serves to encourage the body of believers in their continued faithfulness to Christ in life and ministry. |
